KCSN Weekly: November 8th, 2024 Edition

KC Sports Network

Hey, KCSN Family!

The Chiefs moved to 8-0, the NFL trade deadline passed and we had some fantastic guests on this week. The network had all of the local coverage covered like a blanket and here are this week's biggest highlights!

KC Current's defender Kayla Sharples joins "Currently"

Daniel Kooser and Chris Wright were joined by KC Current's defender Kayla Sharples to discuss why she wanted to be traded to Kansas City, her soccer journey, some big plays she has already made for the Current and gearing up for the playoffs. Currently goes live every week and had a bonus episode this week to take a deep dive on the playoffs!

"3Maw" has Taylor Poitier on the show

Cole Manbeck was joined by K-State offensive lineman Taylor Poitier to discuss why he chose the Wildcats, his football upbringing and much more. Poitier helped the Wildcats earn recognition by being a semi-finalist for the Joe Moore award in 2023, which goes to the best offensive line in the country. Poitier is a catalyst along that talented group.

2026 QB commit Jaylen Mason comes  on "Verbal Commit"

Kevin Flaherty and Ryan Wallace breakdown the Missouri and Kansas High School Football recruiting landscape before they have on Jaylen Mason. Mason is a 2026 class quarterback from Wichita, who recently committed to Kansas. The guys also discussed K-State tight end commit Linkon Cure, from Goodland High School, who might be taking a visit to Oregon.

KCSN Stats of the Week

As CEO of KC Sports Network BJ Kissel points out here, Kareem Hunt has been an absolute machine in a resurgent season.

But here is a Travis Kelce stat for you, just to show how historic his longevity has been.

Travis Kelce has only missed five games following his rookie season in 2013 (including playoffs):

Week 17, 2017: (Rest)

Week 17, 2020: (Rest)

Week 16, 2021: (Covid)

Week 1, 2023: (Knee)

Week 18, 2023: (Rest)

That is one game missed due to injury over the course of the last 193 games.

This week's Substack article from KCSN Sports Data Scientist, Joseph Hefner

This week Joseph took a deep dive into the matchup and last weeks win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Joseph said the analytics showed that the Chiefs executed perfectly in the red zone, and that was the difference in the game. Baker Mayfield had his way with the Chiefs on a few long drives, which is against the trends from past weeks. Read the full article and everything Joseph took away from the game from a data standpoint here!
